The Federation has been in existence for over 20 years helping and representing the views, concerns and opinions of tenants and residents in the borough of Barnsley. Times have changed and so has the focus of the Federation but the commitment of our volunteer’s remains the same.
Membership is open to everyone and is currently made up from the 20 Tenants and Residents Associations (TARA’s) in Barnsley as well as from individuals that do not have a TARA in their area.
Barnsley TARAs shared good practice on Tuesday 1st November Berneslai Homes held their fourth ‘Talk Up TARA’ day for the 19 Tenants and Residents Associations (TARA) across Barnsley, at Wilthorpe Community Centre, Barnsley
Barnsley Federation of Tenants and Residents new headquarters were officially opened on 7 October by Dr Ann Gosse, Barnsley Council’s Executive Director for Development, Environment and Culture.

The new look site is user friendly,
interactive and informative and contains an events calendar and latest news
section for tenants to find out the latest news on the services provided.

Annual Report has been sent to all of its tenants and residents
recently; It sets out how the company
has performed over the 2010/11 financial year and how they plan to improve
services this year. For the first time the annual report has been written
jointly between staff and tenants and includes feedback from the
tenants of the Berneslai Challenge Panels.
