Friday 28th January 2010 was a night to remember, as Barnsley Federation of Tenants and Residents held their third annual awards ceremony to celebrate the difference volunteering makes in the communities of Barnsley

The event at Priory Campus, sponsored by Kier, was attended by over 90 people including staff and Board Directors from Berneslai Homes, Mayor Councillor Margaret Sheard, Tenants and Residents Associations from across the borough, and not to forget all the members of our communities that volunteer.

Nominations were invited from all sectors of the community with the awards given to individuals and TARAs all of whom have demonstrated a commitment to making a difference in their communities.

Joan Whitaker, Chair of the Federation said, “The evening was a great success, it’s nice to see our volunteers coming together celebrating their achievements. We know they do not do it for any reward but it’s always nice to recognise how their involvement makes a difference and just to say thank you. We are so proud of our Federation and our TARAs, anyone that gives up their time to help others are truly worthy of an award.”
