We have a strategic main focus around the scrutiny of how Berneslai Home delivers its service to the tenants and residents of the borough. We also look at national issues and local neighbourhood issues

Your views count

At the Federation we know that it’s important that every tenant and resident has the opportunity to be heard and more importantly listened to when it comes to their local community.

To make sure this happens we will actively seek your views on not only issues that affect your local community, but issues that affect the tenure of our country. With the recent change in Government and the proposed changes to tenancies now is the time to really have your say and get involved with your Federation. We want to get the views of as many of our tenants and residents as we can, to make sure that Berneslai Homes and their partners are delivering the best possible service they can for all tenats and to make sure you have an input at a national level when it comes to any proposed policy changes.

To do this effectively we need your input – you can get involved in many ways.
We believe that an involved tenant or resident is a happy person!

How do we do this?

By giving every tara and individual the right to be heard. All Taras are welcome to join the Federation as are individual members of the community that do not have a Tara in their area.

So what does being a member of the Federation mean?

It means that you are part of the biggest tenant’s organisation in Barnsley. You will be amongst a dedicated team of volunteers, just like you, that have a special interest in housing both at a local level and a national level. So even if you are not a Berneslai Homes tenant you can still help your community by sitting on one of our scrutiny panels.

In a nutshell by being a member of the Federation you have the opportunity to shape and influence policy and help us make improvements to services.

How can I be involved?

You can be involved in a variety of ways even if you only have 10 minutes to spare we can put you on our mailing list to make sure you are kept up to date!

What’s in it for me?

The satisfaction knowing that you have helped shape Berneslai Homes policies ensuring a fair deal for all. The Federation’s role is evolving and with the new regulators for social housing comes new responsibilities on our tenants. You can be part of this by joining the Federation!
