Barnsley Federation of Tenants and Residents, in partnership with Berneslai Homes, recently held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Shaw Lane Rugby Club.
The AGM was attended by over 70 people including the Mayor of Barnsley Councillor Karen Dyson, members of the 19 Barnsley Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs), staff from Berneslai Homes and Barnsley Council and its partners.
The guest speaker at the AGM was Sarah Davies, Senior Policy and Practice Officer from the Chartered Institute of Housing, who discussed the proposed changes to social housing and how this will affect tenants. She also highlighted the opportunities for local and community groups due to the Government’s localism and Big Society policy.
A presentation was made to Joan Daykin and Fred Harston, who have retired from the Federation Executive Committee after many years service.
Suzy Brain England OBE, Chair of Berneslai Homes adds,”I would like to thank the TARAs individually for their work in making a real difference in their communities, giving their time, support and friendship to their neighbours. Together as a Federation they are making a difference across the borough, region and at a national level.”
