Barnsley Federation of Tenants and Residents new
headquarters were officially opened on 7 October by Dr Ann Gosse, Barnsley
Council’s Executive
Director for Development, Environment and Culture.
The Federation Resource centre is located on Prospect Street, Barnsley and is a great asset to the Federation and a resource for the local community. The event was well attended by tenants and residents from across the borough, Berneslai Homes Board members and Senior Management Team and local Councillors. It was a celebration of 18 months hard work between the Federation and Berneslai Homes that saw an under used community centre turned into a fantastic community asset containing a large hall and meeting room all available for hire.
Joan Whitaker, Chair of the Federation said, "It is really pleasing to see so many people here today and to share our fantastic new headquarters. It may be called the Federation Resource centre, but the real ownership belongs to every tenant and resident in the borough. We are so proud of our base, and we are already seeing the difference it is making in the way in which we engage with our members. Today is the end of a long journey and a lot of hard work and it goes to prove if you have the determination anything is possible."
The Federation’s doors are always open and they want to welcome anyone that would like to find out more about how volunteering makes a real difference and how your input helps all tenants and residents in Barnsley.
